Cecilia Gyldén on the anticipation two days before the race events begin

With only two days left until the start of TCS Lidingöloppsveckan (the TCS Lidingöloppet Week) 2021 we sat down with Lidingöloppet's Secretary-General to briefly check the situation before this year's race events.

Cecilia Gyldén on the anticipation two days before the race events begin

Maybe it's a "cliché" question, but still, how are you feeling now with only two days before the start of TCS Lidingöloppsveckan (the TCS Lidingöloppet Week)?
Thrilled, energized and excited - the whole TCS Lidingöloppet crew and I have longed to organize races, and now we are almost there!

What have been the biggest challenges during the preparations of this year's race?
Not knowing what rules will apply in September/October. I am so happy that we decided early on to carry out the event over a week's time. By doing so, we have increased the flexibility, which has in turn made it easier to safeguard the safety of runners and volunteer workers.

How will this year's arrangement differ from a "regular" TCS Lidingöloppet event?
It will stretch over an entire week, rather than just a weekend, but also be arranged to prevent public gatherings in the Number bib distribution, start area, on the course and in the finish area. We have also removed a number of the usual service functions such as showers and large restaurant tents to decrease the risk of viral transmission. Everything that is important for a great race experience remains though, such as timekeeping, energy stations, and the medal of course.

Finally, what do hope for this year's race week?
I hope that all runners and cyclists will share a great joy of movement on the TCS Lidingöloppet trails this week!

TCS Lidingöloppet's race office thanks all volunteer workers and partners who are currently helping to make the TCS Lidingöloppet Week possible, and welcomes all participants to the start!
