Traffic information for residents of Lidingö

TCS Lidingöloppet is the world's largest cross-country race with over 45,000 participants during the weekend. The world-famous race has been organized since 1965 and most residents of Lidingö are well acquainted with the event.

The following information about traffic changes may be useful for those living on Lidingö. If you reside in Northern Lidingö and need to use your car, we recommend that you leave early or park south of Lidingövallen and cycle from there. For those who plan to carpool from Lidingö, we suggest that you arrange to meet on the Southern side of the island, for example, Högsätra or Bodal.

We recommend that everyone who can should leave their car this weekend and use public transport or bicycle if possible, especially on Saturday. Allow extra time if you need to drive and pass the intersection at Lidingövallen.

If you're going away for, for example, an away game with a team, it might be a good idea to gather somewhere on the southern island or Hjorhagen to avoid ending up where most runners and their companions are getting around.

Another tip is to park your car on Friday, for example at Högsätra, and then get there by bike or bus, and afterwards travel via Södra Kungsvägen to avoid the traffic situation on Norra Kungsvägen.

Sticklinge
For many years, Sticklinge has had a difficult traffic situation. To resolve this, Kyttingevägen will be made one-way for outgoing traffic from Sticklinge, which will instead be rerouted via Tyktorpsvägen and Sticklingevägen. Sticklingevägen will be one-way for incoming traffic towards Sticklinge, and you will enter via Kyttingevägen. This is being done to prevent drivers from facing traffic chaos due to head-on encounters.

From Rudboda towards Stockholm
Drive south in the roundabout at Lidingövallen onto Kyrkvägen and follow the directions from there.

To Rudboda from Stockholm
Take Norra Kungsvägen.

Roadblocks in the westbound direction on Norra Kungsvägen from the Lidingövallen roundabout to Källängsvägen are in place on Saturday and Sunday towards Ropsten. From 8:00 am to 7:30 pm on Saturday and from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday.

Church Road
It will not be possible to drive in the direction from Lidingö center to Lidingövallen (between Stockholm Road and North King's Road) during the hours of 8:00-19:30 on Saturday and 8:00-17:00 on Sunday
(you can thus drive south on the road, but not north).
